What is Crude Oil — plain English
The price of a barrel (about 159 litres) of oil. Oil goes into everything — fuel for cars and planes, plastic packaging, chemicals, medicine. When the oil price rises, petrol gets more expensive for everyone. OPEC is a group of oil-producing countries that meets regularly and decides how much oil to pump. Their decisions move the price more than anything else.

What makes Crude Oil move

OPEC+ production decisions — how much they pump each month
US shale production levels
Global economic growth or recession
Wars in oil-producing regions — Middle East, Russia
Hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico
US dollar strength — oil is priced in dollars
US inventory reports — published every Wednesday

Supply and demand drives everything. OPEC cuts production, less oil in the market, price goes up. A recession hits, factories stop, demand drops, price falls. The US weekly inventory report (every Wednesday at 15:30 UTC) is the most reliable short-term mover.
